Eczema Therapy
Eczema is a skin condition whereby the patient suffers from patches of inflamed red, dry and scaly skin. This can very irritating and usually occurs in people who have a family history. Since there is an urge to itch the affected area most of the time, ice therapy can be applied for cool effects. It is an excellent eczema therapy for diminishing the inflammation. There are various types of eczema and some happen due to allergens that result in skin inflammation. When you put ice on this area, the cooling effect soothes the condition to a great extent.
How does ice therapy works? This eczema therapy will anesthetize the skin of the affected area thereby causing a pain relief. As soon as you remove the ice from the eczematous skin, the skin will acquire the normal blood flow. This blood flow will bring the essential nutrients to the skin, thereby healing it further. The ice therapy can be done by taking a few ice cubes in a plastic and then wrapping it in a towel. Apply this on the skin and move in a circular motion. The ice therapy is a natural home remedy for eczema and there are no side effects.
Yet another eczema therapy is the wrap therapy. In this, some wet bandages are taken that have already been soaked in warm water or moisturizer. The patient is asked to take a bath with an emollient. The bandages are then wrapped around the affected area. The bandages can be wrapped around any part of the body, even if that happens to be the face. Next, the wet bandages are covered by the dry bandages. This process helps in retaining the moisture of the wet bandages. This therapy can be done once a week. It soothes the affected skin and with regular treatment a patient can have some respite. However, it is advisable to take your standard medicines along with this treatment.
Moisturizing the skin is the best and easiest eczema therapy. It is not essential that you use medicines and chemicals to treat eczema. It can be done naturally too. A natural treatment will make the skin grow healthily. Emollient is the best for application over the affected skin. It can be found in the forms of creams, lotions and moisturizers. An emollient is oilier than most of the moisturizers. This quality helps in preventing the escape of moisture from an already dried skin.
Quick Tip #1
Wear clothes that are made of cotton or a cotton blend. Synthetics and wool products can often irritate the skin which in turn makes you want to scratch thus making your eczema worse. There are also a lot of new age fabrics which are very low allergenic and highly breathable which makes them great for people with eczema. |
